We’re creating a sound journey of Amble - from the chirps of cracking ice to the chug of boats on the tide. We’re taking your ears where your feet can’t go, revealing hidden worlds - and we need YOU! This is your town. Who knows it better than you?
We want that honest sense of home in every sight and sound - of living and growing up in Amble. Visiting somewhere for a day doesn’t mean you see the rhythms, colour and music of a place: the full picture. Can you help us fill in the gaps?
Ever heard of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? It’s a poem brimming with someone’s idea of what it’s like to have your home by the sea. You can taste the salt, be swept away by the tide… see both the beauty - and terror! - of nature. We’re using it as a springboard, but it's your contributions - your stories - that will bring this sound journey to life.
SO HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
We would love to hear:
- your earliest or strongest memories of living and growing up next to the coast - what is it like to be part of this town
- your favourite places or activities, especially near or by the sea
- sights and sounds you associate with living here
Not sure where to begin? Visit www.matthewtuckey.co.uk/the-rime-digital-scrapbook to check out our online scrapbook with sound, pictures, and recordings of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner to get you started!
